Spurs dare FC AK in Nedbank

ON-FORM National First Division side FC AK should brace themselves for a tough battle when they visit struggling Witbank Spurs in a Nedbank Cup preliminary stage match at Puma Rugby Stadium in Witbank today.

Kick-off is at 3.30pm.

This stern warning was issued to Bahumi by Spurs' spokesman Thabo "T-bose" Moroape yesterday.

Today's encounter will be the two clubs' dress rehearsal because they will meet again in a league match at the Eldorado Park Stadium on Sunday.

An avalanche of goals is expected again in today's match, this after the two produced a seven-goal thriller in their first meeting that FC AK won 4-3.

Moroape said: "We have prepared well for the match and FC AK should brace themselves for a whipping. We have a score to settle with them after they embarrassed us in front of our supporters in the first round. A victory will motivate the boys for the league programme and assist us to move out of the relegation zone."

Moroape's counterpart at Bahumi, Kwezi "Meneer" Masondo, said they would not be fooled by Spurs' position on the log. "We will approach the game with caution considering that they are at a fixing stage following a dismal start in their league programme. But victory is certain," Masondo said yesterday.

Bahumi have capable players in Kyle Koert, Kirk Lerray and Thando Mkhonza.

The rest of today's fixtures are:

Kanyamazane: Sivutsa Stars vs Carara Kicks; Seshego: Bay United vs Chippa United; Parrow: Vasco da Gama vs United FC; Charles Mopeli: African Warriors vs FC Cape Town; Buffalo City: Rovers vs Thanda Royal Zulu; Giyani: Dynamos vs University of Pretoria.

All matches start at 3.30pm.
