EIGHTEEN female golfers from Soweto will tee off in an eight-hole contest at the Soweto Golf Club on Sunday.
These are ladies who have been put into a three-month development course by veteran golfer Dizzy Mkhwanazi.
The club's secretary, Zandi Mkhize, said the aim of the tournament was to find out how much the ladies have grasped from their lessons.
Mkhize said the format will be the American scramble and the tee-off will be at 7.30am.
"Each of the ladies will tee off alongside a seasoned golfer," Mkhize said.
The ladies are to complete their course next month and each will receive a certificate.
Mkhize said they wanted to encourage ladies to take up golf as a pastime.
