Boateng quits on Ghana

The Ghana Football Association says AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has written a letter to say he no longer wants to play for the national team.

In a statement on its website Friday, the Ghana FA says the 24-year-old Boateng blamed the “physical demands of playing for both club and country at high levels”.

Boateng made his Ghana debut only last year after representing Germany at under-21 and youth levels.

He was given clearance by FIFA in time to play for Ghana at the World Cup in South Africa where the team reached the quarter-finals for the first time.

Boateng has won nine caps in total, scoring one  goal.
