Swallows, Pirates derby tickets on sale

TICKETS for the original Soweto derby featuring Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows at Orlando Stadium on November 2 are already on sale.

Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) have put together various hospitality packages to ensure that all the suites are sold out.

SMSA is the company that has been appointed by the City of Johannesburg to manage the stadium along with Rand, Dobsonville and Soccer City stadiums.

The company's marketing manager, Brescia Bianco Badenhorst, said the tickets were already on sale at various Computicket outlets.

Ordinary tickets, commonly referred to as "extra strong", are available at R40 per person.

"The north hospitality is selling for R741, which include a super suite ticket on the northern side of the stadium, light-hot meal, beers, wines and soft drinks.

"The south hospitality is available at R300, including a super suite ticket on the southern side of the stadium, light meal, complimentary beers and soft drinks.

"We also have the mayoral suite for R1362,30, including a ticket in a shared view suite on main stand, three-course meal and premium bar."

Badenhorst said all hospitality suites will be open an hour before kickoff and will close an hour after the end of the game. Kick-off is at 7.30pm.

"Hospitality packages exclude parking tickets. Parking tickets are available for purchase at R10. For more information visit www.stadiummanagement.co.za"

Previous clashes between the two teams have produced fireworks, and it remains to be seen if the current crop of players will sustain the excitement.

In the past, icons like Andries "Six Mabone" Maseko, Joel "Ace" Mnini, Frederick "Congo" Malebane, Thomas "Who's Fooling Who" Hlongwane and Noel "Phinda Mzala" Cousins used to make the Dube Birds' fans happy.

On the other hand, the Buccaneers also had the likes of Percy "Chippa" Moloi, Ephraim "Jomo" Sono, Jeffrey "Tornado" Ntsibande, Jackie "Styles" Ledwaba, Eric "Principal" Chauke and Dan "Dance" Malesela who helped them shine.
