READY FOR REMATCH: National junior featherweight champion Macbute 'Mac Man' Sinyabi

MACBUTE "Mac Man" Sinyabi is not bothered by Nick Durandt's absence from his corner for his next title defence against Thabo "Madluphuthu" Sonjica on October 29.

The current South African junior featherweight champion will be defending his title for the seventh time in the clash against Sonjica that is scheduled for the Orient Theatre in East London.

Durandt will still be in Italy, where Sinyabi's stablemate Moruti Mthalane defends his International Boxing Federation flyweight crown against Andrea Sarritzu next Friday.

"It would have been great to have Nick in my corner during the fight," said Sinyabi. "Be that as it may, Nick's absence is not going to affect me as we have done everything at training while preparing for this fight. We work as a team here and anyone who's going to be in my corner will do a good job."

Durandt was equally confident, adding: "I have a team of capable people who will ensure that 'Mac Man' wins."

As was the case when Sinyabi and Sonjica met on April 2, the SA junior featherweight title fight has the potential to divide Mdantsane and Duncan Village. Despite fighting out of Johannesburg, Sinyabi is still regarded as a hero in Mdantsane, where he was born, while Sonjica's homeboys in Duncan Village will look forward to a victory over the champion.

"I feel sorry for those who want me to lose this fight because I'm going to repeat what I did to Thabo the first time we met," said Sinyabi. "He will never be the same once I beat him again."

The Sinyabi-Sonjica fight is the main supporting bout of the International Boxing Federation mini flyweight title fight between Nkosinathi Joyi and Katsunari Takayama. This tournament will be promoted by Branco Milenkovic of Branco Sports Productions.

The rest of the bill:

Six-rounders: Mfundo Gwayana vs Vuyani Keswa (junior flyweight), Xolisa Dudu vs Wele Yokose (flyweight), Bongani Silila vs Malibongwe Mntusanto (junior flyweight), Thapelo Potwana vs Thobela Zozi (lightweight) and Zukisani Kwayiba vs Ongezo Makubalo (junior flyweight)
