BAFANA Bafana rising star Thulani Serero and Zimbabwe's Knowledge Musona have been selected by Fifa to a group of future African stars tipped to shine on the world stage.
The duo are among the players Fifa is tipping to emulate the successes of Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto'o, Michael Essien and Steven Pienaar.
Botswana's Mogogi Gabonamong, who plays for three-time SA Premiership champions SuperSport United, was also included in the team.
Serero could not be reached for comment yesterday but his business manager Mike "Nanana" Ntombela described his inclusion as a great recognition for the Soweto-born youngster.
"This is wonderful news for Serero, especially considering that he only went to Europe to play for Ajax Amsterdam in July," Ntombela said. "He is highly encouraged by his selection by Fifa. This will spur him to continue working hard for the success of Bafana Bafana and Ajax."
Musona, the former Kaizer Chiefs striker, is now based in Germany where he plays for Bundesliga outfit TSG Hoffenheim.
The rest of the selected players are:
Delvin Ndinga (Congo): A product of CNFF academy in Brazzaville, Ndinga is a spark for the Red Devils as they try to improve on a poor Afcon qualifying campaign.
Wilfried Bony (Ivory Coast): Formerly a top scorer in the Ivorian league, Bony has broken through to the national team in the absence of Drogba. He plays for Vitesse in Holland.
Jordan Ayew (Ghana): He is younger brother of Andre Ayew, and son of three-time African Footballer the Year Abedi Pele.
Cheikh Diabate (Mali): A product of the Salif Keita academy in Bamako, Diabate moved to France in 2008 and has worked his way up through the ranks.
Youseff Al Arabi (Morocco): Such were his goals and promise that the Al Arabi player caught the attention of a number of European teams, but he chose to sign for Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal.
Moussa Maazou (Niger): The burly striker scored the decisive goal at the weekend against South Africa to take his country top of the group.
Joel Obi (Nigeria): The Super Eagles have been searching for several years for a successor to Jay-Jay Okocha in the creative department and may well have found the solution in Obi.
Moussa Sow (Senegal): Linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, Sow could be the next superstar for the continent's passionate fans.
