Tshabalala dares Ndlovu to face Munyai

TRAINER Elias Tshabalala has dared newly crowned IBF junior featherweight champion Takalani Ndlovu to show his mettle against Tshifhiwa Munyai.

Munyai made a resounding debut in the junior featherweight division by winning the IBO belt against Filipino Danilo Pena on Saturday night. The fight took place at Emperors Palace. It formed part of the Explosion bill presented by Golden Gloves.

Ndlovu beat Canadian Steve Molitor for the IBF strap on Branco Milenkovic's bill.

"I watched the fight live while in our dressing rooms. Takalani deserved to win but he is old - ikhehla - and I can prove that by ending his celebrations," said the straight-talking Tshabalala.

Ndlovu is 33 while Munyai is 24.

But such a fight won't happen because the two boxers are promoted by rivals Milenkovic and Rodney Berman.

Tshabala also urged Milenkovic to offer his charge, two-time IBO mini and junior flyweight holder Gideon "Hardcore" Buthelezi, a crack at IBF mini flyweight champion Nkosinathi "Mabere" Joyi.

Tshabalala's other charge, Isaac "Golden Boy" Chilemba, regained the WBC International light heavyweight belt after outpointing Namibian Vikapita Meroro. Tshabalala dedicated both titles to his father, Phineas, who died on Monday night.

l Trainer Benny Pailman described the rematch between his charge WBC International junior lightweight holder Sipho Taliwe and Filipino Vinvin Rufino a "scrappy clash".

"Sipho dropped that guy in round one and two and he put Sipho down in three and it all changed from there. Sipho did not fight according to the plan," said Pailman whose charge won via a split points decision.

Flo Simba won the IBO Youth heavyweight title with a first- round knockout of Brazilian Fernando de Almeida while Thomas Oosthuizen won the IBO super middleweight title via an eighth-round stoppage of Colombian Evert Bravo. Joey Stiglingh also forced a stoppage in round six against Wandile Mseleku.
