Proteas 'owe it to the Wags'

THE Proteas' revival against India in the Cricket World Cup on Saturday might be down to more than just Robin Peterson's heroics

To hear batsman JP Duminy's fiancée Sue Erasmus tell it, the team's wives and girlfriends helped "lift them again".

Erasmus seems to have taken up the title of "Queen WAG", judging by her willingness to pose for pictures, talk and tweet about her relationship with the middle-orderbatsmen.

The professional model also said the WAGs rallied around their men after their first World Cup loss to England the previous Sunday.

However, the WAGs are coming home on Friday on Cricket SA's orders and will not be able to continue their cheer-leading exploits.

Coach Corrie van Zyl has not let the women run riot in the Proteas camp. They have been left to discover host country India on their own, while the players continued preparations for the tougher end of the tournament.

Erasmus said they had been shopping up a storm, as well as "indulging" at spas to help overcome their "hectic" travelling schedule.

"We have been resting and relaxing a lot. We have been shopping quite a lot. You buy the most beautiful pashminas, shoes, bags and silverware here," she said.

The 26-year-old model, who admitted she's been enjoying the Indian head massages, said the WAGS' visit was not just about "spending time" with them. For this World Cup, the WAGS have been allowed to stay in the same hotel as the players.
