AS ONE of the 2010 Fifa World Cup legacy projects the Germans have forged a partnership with Dona's Mates Youth Development Project in Orange Farm to develop the game.

"We are working closely with the German Technical Corporation and Youth Development Through Football," said Dona's Mates chairperson James "Maradona" Shabangu.

"We are going to hold a workshop for coaches next week, we need 20 coaches from Orange Farm, Soweto, Sedibeng, Lenasia, Eldorado Park and other surrounding areas.

"Interested coaches who wish to take part in this workshop must be prepared to be part of the Dona's Mates YDF/GTZ Coaches Forum.

"Coaches will use the platform to share their experiences, discuss challenges and best practices when implementing the YDF Toolkit Coaches Manual.

"The coaches who also learn more about the life-skills programmes, how other coaches deal with challenges, like (a lack of) equipment and transportation."

Shabangu said Dona's Mates head coach Johannes Phatlane attended the Toolkit Coaches Instructor course that was coordinated by GTZ's Lebohang Tlomatsane.

"Johannes will be in charge this weekend. Partici-pating coaches will be awarded certificates as our courses are recognised by the South African Football Association."

The workshop will run from October 25-27, starting at 9am in the morning.
