Mlilo eager to set Ndou alight

ZIMBABWEAN Bhekimpilo Mlilo has warned his South African foe Phillip "Time Bomb" Ndou to undermine him at his own peril.

The two square off at North West University in Mafikeng on Saturday October 30.

The 25-year-old who is trained in South Africa by his father Ambrose Mlilo could prove a handful for Ndou.

"I'm ready for Phillip and I can't wait for fight day," said the confident fighter yesterday.

"Phillip has a tough fight on his hands and he does not even know how tough it will be. It will be hell on earth for him. I will beat him. There is no doubt about that. I'm an underdog but I will surprise him. Eight rounds will be too much for him."

Mlilo has respect for Ndou, though.

"But I've got to beat the best in order to be on the map," said Mlilo, a novice of only five wins (5KOs) against three losses.

He is a formidable fighter, though, who had Anthony "Blue Jaguar" Tshehla in all sorts of trouble for almost six rounds in Secunda on June 5 last year.

But he got careless and Tshehla, the former South African, All Africa, WBC International featherweight and WBA Pan African junior lightweight champion, stopped him just before the final round gong.

Isaac "Angel" Hlatshwayo will also be in action on the night. He faces Nkululeko Mhlongo.

Both Ndou and Hlatshwayo last fought in 2009.

Ndou fought in July when he was defeated by his namesake Lovemore Ndou for the IBO welterweight belt.

Hlatshwayo, on the other hand, was stopped in three rounds by Jan Zaveck for the IBF strap in December.

Trainer Nick Durandt anticipates a tough fight for Ndou but he expects his charge to emerge victorious. This is to pave the way for the unfinished business with Hlatshwayo who boasts a points win over Ndou.

The fight will be put together by Branco Milenkovic's Branco Sports Production.
