Adults must ensure that they support children to become the best people they can possibly be by following some basic principles as a parents or caregivers.
These principles include providing them with:
lHealthy food and safe sanitation;
lRegular and routine medical and dental checkups and immunisations;
lMedical care that must be available when there is concern about a child's physical health, development and wellbeing;
lAs many opportunities as possible to play actively in a safe and supportive
environment;
lSpace to choose and direct their activities according to their individual ages and capabilities,
needs and interests;
lBeing given an adult's full attention when they are talking or indicate that they need to communicate wit a grown-up;
lTo be actively encouraged and motivated and not be belittled in any way; and
lPositive, consistent and age-appropriate discipline.
