Despite playing into the wind, Bucs always looked the more dangerous side going forward and gave the United defence a few nervous moments.
Pirates new Cape Verde striker Adriano Pires looked very promising.
But their playmaker Teko Modise had a quiet game. He got into referee Daniel Bennett's black book when he was shown a yellow card for diving inside United's penalty area.

Bradley Ritson scored the only goal of the game in the ninth minute. AmaZulu right-back Jan Sillo stormed into the middle of the field and drew three players to him, released the ball to an unmarked Ritson who only needed one touch to score.
"He (Ritson) set up Myron (Shongwe) for the goal. I think he should have gone for goal himself, but I am happy with his and the team's performance," said AmaZulu coach Clive Barker.
"This win comes at a time when it was a very emotional week for us as we lost a good player. This was for him," he said, referring to the sudden passing away of striker Siyabonga Mkhwanazi.
n Bloemfontein Celtic collected their first point of the season when they played to a goalless draw with Maritzburg United at the Free State Stadium.
