The PAC says a huge chunk of its debt was incurred because of reckless and unauthorised spending.
Without naming former PAC president Motsoko Pheko and his deputy Themba Godi, who has since defected, party spokesman Mudini Maivha put the blame squarely on their shoulders for most of it. He said the PAC would claim more than R500000 from people who had acted outside its mandate when they incurred the debt.
"It is not only the PAC that has outstanding debt. It happens to many political parties," Maivha said.
He appealed to businessmen to contribute to the party "for the sake of promoting democracy".
