Two women and a man accused of brewing and selling a deadly concoction appeared briefly in the Witbank magistrates' court in Mpumalanga this week.
But patrons say the "beer" "tastes good" and "makes all their problems go away".
Pinki Thwala, 43, Mariam Themba, 56, and Antonio Matimba, 25, have been charged with contravening Section 135 (1) of the Liquor Act.
They were arrested last month after police spotted a boy delivering the booze in Vosman, Witbank.
The police said the boy took them to open veld where the brew was being made.
Captain Lesiba Aphane said: "We found 25 drums of about 220 litre each with the 'beer' ready."
The accused are out on R1000 bail each and their case has been postponed to June 6 for forensic reports on the mixture.
