Two critically injured in Johannesburg fire

Two people have been injured after they were caught in a fire at Bree Street in central Johannesburg on Saturday morning.

ER24 spokesperson, Werner Vermaak, said shortly after 06:00 paramedics and the Johannesburg fire department were called to the scene in Bree Street where they found two people with severe burn injuries.

"One person was rushed off to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital by local emergency service prior to ER24’s arrival," he said in a statement.

Vermaak said another person was found with critical injuries and that paramedics had stabilised the man and rushed him to hospital.

"The exact cause for the fire is not yet known. Local authorities and emergency services attended the scene," Vermaak said.
