Mac Maharaj to undergo surgery after lung cancer diagnosis

President Jacob Zuma's former special advisor Mac Maharaj was admitted into a Durban hospital last week Wednesday.

Maharaj was diagnosed with lung cancer and it’s reported that he will undergo surgery this week.

Maharaj told News24 that his cancer was not a death sentence.

“It’s going good with me. Cancer is not a death sentence,” he was quoted saying.

He also asked that he and his family’s privacy be respected during this time.

The 80 year old retired in April as President Jacob Zuma's special advisor and spokesperson.
