Two men were been killed and 17 other people injured in a collision involving two bakkies and a truck on the R44 near Wellington in the Western Cape on Tuesday morning‚ paramedics said.
ER24 said it was understood that the two bakkies had collided head-on after one of them had struck the side of a truck carrying farm workers.
One person was killed in the one bakkie and another in the other bakkie. Fire services had to use jaws-of-life equipment to extricate the two bodies from the wreckage.
Sixteen men and a woman – who were all passengers on the truck – sustained minor to moderate injuries in the accident. They were admitted to various hospitals in the area.
