Woman apologises for drinking in cop car

Pictures of a woman drinking an alcoholic beverage while sitting in the driver’s side of an Ekhuruleni Metro Police Department vehicle went viral this past weekend.

The pictures caused quite a stir, which prompted EMPD to launch an investigation to find out who was on duty and had been assigned the vehicle, EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago said.

“The matter is with the integrity and standard unit, they will investigate and find out whose name the car was issued in. That person will have to explain the incident and disciplinary action will follow,” said Kgasago.

The woman who has since been identified as Tshidi Ford via her Facebook page has apologised.

Ford lives in Tembisa according to her Facebook  page.

On her Facebook page she stated that she had sneaked into the car while it was being washed.  This is her apology:

“My humble apoligies to all. I have caused a stir by sneaking into EMPD car while it was being washed an took pics. Im really sorry, didnt mean any harm” (sic)

It is not clear where the picture was taken and where the officer(s) driving the car were.
