Two men had entered the home and demanded a cellphones, money and other valuables, while a third suspect remained outside.

Two men broke in and demanded Kelly’s phone and she refused to give it to them. There was scuffle between Kelly and one of the men.

Senzo stood up and tried to intervene... 'That was when the man pulled out a gun and shot Senzo.'

Meyiwa was shot in the chest at point-blank range while he and friends were at the home of girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus in Ekurhuleni.

Police say the men took a mobile phone (not Meyiwa's) that had been charging at the Khumalo home.

Meyiwa died on arrival at hospital.

Investigation

Police have released identikits of the suspects

One suspect is tall, dark-skinned, slender and dreadlocked.

The second suspect is also dark-skinned, short and well-built.

No evidence that this was a contract killing.

Investigators spent more than an hour interviewing Meyiwa's estranged wife, Mandisa Mkhize, at Vosloorus police station.

Tests are being conducted on a hat in which hairs were apparently discovered, and a glove found in the entranceway of the house. The hat and glove are believed to have been ripped off the killer as Meyiwa's friend struggled to disarm him.

The reward for information which would lead to the arrest and conviction of those involved has been increased from R150,000 to R250,000.
