TWO suspected hijackers were wounded in a shoot-out at a KwaMashu hostel, KwaZulu-Natal police saidyesterday.
Police were following up information about a hijacked Kia when they spotted the car at a men's hostel on Sunday evening, Colonel Vincent Mdunge said.
"When the officers approached the vehicle, the two occupants started shooting at them and the officers retaliated in self-defence," he said.
During the exchange of gunfire one suspect, 30, was wounded in the head and thigh. Another was shot in the thigh.
A policeman was also injured.
"The police seized a 9mm pistol with a filed-off serial number from the suspects and recovered the hijacked vehicle," said Mdunge.
