Bus drivers protesting

The Golden Highway, south of Johannesburg was partially closed on Wednesday morning when bus drivers parked buses on the road during a protest, metro police said.

Spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said only one lane was open on the highway between Finetown and Ennerdale.

“We urge motorists to use the N1 as an alternative route. Police are monitoring the situation but it is calm.”

Minnaar said the cause of the protests was not known.
