“The officers are deployed to divert traffic at Juice and Peter roads. Beyers Naude Drive is still not accessible to motorists,” spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.
“There are rocks, stones and burning tyres in the road. People are also throwing stones at cars so we had to close Beyers Naude Drive.”
Minnaar said cars going from Krugersdorp to Johannesburg and back would not be able to use that road. “We urge motorists to use Malibongwe Drive and Hendrik Potgieter road as alternatives,” he said.
"We are not sure about the reasons for the protest but it is not safe for motorists," he said.
