Municipal logo row continues

Designer says he has not been paid 11 years after he completed the job. He wants R10-million

THE controversy around the Fetakgomo municipality logo is far from over.

Benedict Mamogobo, who designed the logo for the municipality in 2001, said he had not been paid 11 years after he completed the job.

He wants R10-million for his effort.

Mamogobo, 54, said it hurts him whenever he sees the logo.

"When I drew the logo I knew it was going to get the nod. But I did not know that I would be sent from pillar to post to be paid," the former art lecturer at Sekhukhune College of Education said.

He said he was asked to take part in a competition to draw the logo in August 2001.

"I've had several meetings with officials, but nothing came from them," he said.

He said he then approached the Presidential Hotline .

"The matter was investigated and I was advised to register the logo for a patent," he said.

But Mayor Kukie Sefala yesterday denied that they owed Mamogobo money.

She said the competition had been for pupils and no payment was discussed.

She added that Mamogobo should go to court if he felt Fetakgomo owed him money.

"We don't owe Mamogobo anything," Sefala said.
