Anger over increased taxi fares
Hundreds of people barricaded the R102 at Shaka’s Kraal near KwaDukuza in protest against increased taxi fares on Monday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
Police used rubber bullets to disperse the crowd, spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mdunge said.
The protesters were stopping people from entering or exiting KwaDukuza because the local taxi association had increased the taxi fare.
Schools and businesses had been disrupted.
