DA is home for all, says party leader

THE DA in Mpumalanga has re-elected Anthony Benadie as its provincial leader.

A total of 308 voting delegates attended the fifth provincial congress in Middelburg at which Benadie was elected as party leader for the next two-year term.

Benadie stood at the helm of a leadership package that campaigned under the banner of "My DA, my leaders", with Jane Moloisi-Sithole as deputy leader, incumbent James Masango as provincial chairwoman and Sonja Boshoff as deputy chairwoman. Delegates elected the entire leadership team into office.

Benadie said the DA's support in all communities had grown in the past five years.

He said he was proud the newly elected team was the most diverse and gender-balanced in the history of the party. He committed the party to intensifying its campaign of establishing the DA as an alternative government in Mpumalanga.

In his acceptance speech, Benadie said the DA was a growing party and a "political home for all South Africans".
