Drunk loses his car, gets arrested

A Kempton Park man has been arrested for falsely reporting the theft of his bakkie because he was too drunk to remember where he parked it

Captain Jethro Mtshali said the 34-year-old man reported that his bakkie was stolen outside his house, on the East Rand, on Sunday morning.

Police later found the bakkie parked at a nearby complex.

“The owner then confessed... that his car was not stolen at his house. Instead, he was so drunk [the previous night] he could not recall where he had parked,” Mtshali said.

The man was charged with defeating the ends of justice.
