PAN Africanist Congress of Azania founder member Edward Bhengu has died.
"Bhengu was a loyal member of the PAC and had been in and out of jail for his political activities," party spokesperson Lehlohonolo Shale said yesterday.
He said Bhengu, the eldest brother of internationally celebrated poet Don Mattera, died on Sunday morning at a Soweto hospice after liver complications.
Shale said Bhengu, who was born on November 8 1934, was affectionately known as "Bra Sanza".
He will be buried on Friday in Soweto.
