EASTERN Cape singing sensation Zahara, who has been impressing local audiences with her amazing vocal talent, is the pride of Buffalo City Metro (East London).

Coming from humble beginnings, Zahara is emerging as one of the industry's most refreshing and talented musicians.

Her journey began at Talamanca Music Lounge in Buffalo City at a poetry session when she performed Loliwe.

Little did she know that TS Records boss TK Nciza was in the audience. He found her performance jaw-dropping and so began her path to stardom.

Q:Where exactly do you come from in Buffalo City?

A: I was born and bred in Phumlani, a rural location 25 minutes away from the metro.Q: What do you like about your home town?A: Apart from the fact that my family is from there, I love the beach and the welcoming breeze that comes from the sea every morning.

I also love the laid-back infrastructure and lifestyle.

Q: What is your favourite eatery in Buffalo City. Why?

A: Iziko Restaurant in Quigney is my favourite. They serve authentic Xhosa cuisine.

Q: Where do you do your shopping when you are back home?

A: Vincent Park is where I shop. You are likely to bump into someone you know there. I like that! And their coffee shops provide a chilled atmosphere where you can sit and catch up with friends.

Q: What is your favourite nightspot?

A: Talamanca Music Lounge. This place holds fond memories for me because it's where I was discovered.

Q: Favourite hotel or B&B?

A: The first hotel I went to was Cascades at ICC in Buffalo City. It holds some special memories.

Q: What makes Buffalo City great?

A: It's the people. Since I shot to fame, I have received a lot of support from a throng of well-wishers.

Q: What's your favourite tshisanyama in Buffalo City?

A: KwaMnguni in Scenery Park.

Q: If one has a weekend to spend in Buffalo City, where would you suggest they go?

A: The museum and the famous Eastern Beach.

It has a very unique vibe that is difficult to explain to an "outsider" but makes an insider as happy as can be.
