Hardsell tips

LEARN how to recognise when the salesperson is pushing a sale.

For example, if you have been at a cosmetic counter for a very long time, and you feel you need an excuse to not buy, you can always say you have sensitive skin and, therefore, cannot buy the product until you have waited to see if your skin reacts to the ones you tested in the store.

If she says you can return the products if you have a reaction, say: "Yes, that's very good, but I never get around to it, and I would rather do it this way."

  • Don't look unless you're serious about buying. You're going to be an easy target if you're simply window-shop
  • Unless you're really in the market for something, don't go in the store.
  • Don't bring your wallet.

If you don't have money, there's no way for you to buy something, not even if the salesperson tries hard to pressures you into doing so.

Also do not sign up for store cards or any instant credit.
