The great Copernicus

NICOLAUS Copernicus was an astronomer who put forward the theory, revolutionary at the time, that the sun was the centre of the universe.

Until then it had been assumed that the earth was at the centre of it all.

His ideas were proved correct in 1620 by Galileo Galilei.
