Lloyd Cele releases another album

He's also got a book coming out later this year, and is expecting his second baby with his wife Janice this month

IDOLS season six runner-up Lloyd Cele is doing a Rihanna on us - he's releasing his sophomore album, No Limits, next month, a mere 12 months after his debut.

Like the Bajan performer, Cele doesn't believe in taking long breaks between releases, and is already pushing his first single Hero.

It comes while his smash hit Thando, from debut album One, featuring Loyiso Bala, is still receiving impressive spins on radio.

The song was written by Curtis Richardson, who has co-written songs like Don't Know How with British soul singer Joss Stone, All I Have with Jennifer Lopez and LL Cool J, Officially Yours with Craig David, and Final Goodbye with Rihanna.

"I met him while I was on holiday in the US a few months ago and we spent a few days. It ended up turning into a working holiday... I mean how often do you get to just go to the States?" Cele said about Richardson yesterday.

The song will feature some dubstep elements - a form of electronic dance music made popular in the UK.

"The most important thing is that I have to stay current because radio and music on radio always evolve. This release also means I have a larger and better repertoire for the fans, because there has already been a demand for more music," said the unsigned 29-year-old.

"If you look at Rihanna, Chris Brown and Usher, they constantly have new material and the radio loves them.

"It also gives you an opportunity to get further recognition from awards shows," he added.

With four SA Music Awards nominations and 15,000 copies of his debut album sold, Cele says his autobiography, The Dream of an Idol, should be on shelves by August.

It seems much too early for an autobiography, especially for someone who only got into the music industry less than two years ago.

"It's an inspirational story. I didn't win Idols, which was my dream. But I never stopped following the dream. I've now been married for five years and I'm living the life I dreamed about when I was young boy in KwaMashu (KwaZulu-Natal)," he said, adding that the time was right because he had already led an extraordinary life.

Cele and his wife Janice are expecting their second baby in three weeks. They already have a son.
