Divas at jazz evening

TWO exceptionally talented artists will have an opportunity to shine on stage at the next Oude Meester Ekurhuleni Comes Alive jazz evening on April 13, sharing the stage with singing sensation Zahara.

Noxolo Radebe and Nomfusi Gotyana, both hailing from Western Cape, will be featured as the new talent, potentially opening up opportunities for the two to be noticed by the industry.

The event is especially dedi-cated to recognising talented female artists.

The festival is known to reveal singing talent since those who are featured as opening or supporting acts get to share the limelight with the big guns in the industry.

Zahara will be making her second appearance at the event after her first album, Loliwe, which has earned her seven Sama nominations . Radebe and Gotyana will make their debut appearances .

Cape Town-born Gotyana, who is increasingly booked overseas, is at present in the studio working on her new album featuring Ringo Madli-ngozi.

Radebe, who was born in Gugulethu, Cape Town, knew at a very young age that singing was what she was destined to do.

Her love for music began at four years old, when she sang in all the choirs that could accommodate her at that age.

She sang in choirs in primary school, then continued in the church, community and tertiary sphere.

She has since performed for a number of top artists as a backing vocalist before branching out to carve a solo career for herself.

"I want to make an impact on young people's lives - especially the ones that want to get into the music industry," she says.

"I want to teach them about the ups and downs of the industry and help them stay focused and positive.

"I believe they can achieve all that they want to with the right advice.".
