Celebrities to drive festival to fight crime

CELEBRITIES Paul Rapetsoa, Darlington Michaels and Seputla Sebogodi will be at the Stop Crime Drama Festival that takes place at the Library Gardens in Polokwane, Limpopo, today, tomorrow and on Sunday, writes Victor Mecoamere

Dramatists Against Crime produce the festival and it is sponsored by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund. Supported by Sowetan, it has been made part of the Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation's youth and community development projects portfolio.

Festival producers Martin Koboekae and Julian Seleke Mokoto said Polokwane mayor Freddy Greaver would meet artists and youths from Gauteng, Northern Cape, North West and Limpopo, who will be staging the plays with anti-crime themes.

Veteran playwright and award-winning broadcaster Rapetsoa, and Michaels and Sebogodi, stars of SABC soapies Isidingo and Generations, will motivate aspirant playwrights, actors, stage managers, lighting personnel and choreographers.

Sebogodi and his band G Movement will perform his unique brand of Zion Christian Church-inspired gospel music.

Theatre workshops will also be conducted.
