Art auction to help kids fight kidney diseases

CHILDREN suffering from kidney diseases stand to benefit from the sale of outstanding art works next month when Grahamstown's Fine Art Gallery hosts a charity auction to benefit the Kidneybeanz Trust.

The art work to be auctioned is valued at R250000 and 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Kidneybeanz Trust - a foundation that provides support to children suffering severe kidney diseases.

The comprehensive care that these children require is provided by a Morningside, Johannesburg, clinic and is the only provider of kidney treatment for children in Africa.

The point is, in altruistic societies children should not have to suffer the hardship of battling serious diseases on their own.

The reality, however, is that ailments such as kidney diseases exist. Charitable organisations such as the KidneyBeanz Trust provide the love and care that these little angels need. KidneyBeanz relies on the generosity of individuals, donations and fund raising events.

Renowned South African artist Scats Esterhuyse will auction his painting called Backs to the Wind: Muizenberg on October 7. Esterhuyse says 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the KidneyBeanz Trust. The rest of Esterhuyse's art work will be on exhibition until Sunday October 31 2010 at the Grahamstown Fine Art Gallery.
