The phrase has again become relevant after former South African Reserve Bank (SARB) was allegedly booted out of the VIP security check point at the OR Tambo International Airport on Monday.
He took to Twitter to air out his frustrations citing that he was booted out because he was now an "unapproved person".
Today I was booted out of the VIP security checkpoint at ORT. No longer allowed. Reason: unapproved person. Wow. been using this since 1994.

Mboweni became the first South African black man to ever hold the Governor post at the Reserve Bank.

He was on his way to Stellenbosch University to deliver a lecture. He had to take the economy class flight which he found rather amusing.
"Off now to deliver a lecture at Stellenbosch University. Topic: Is the SA ECONOMY ON AUTO-PILOT? Looking forward to it!! Full house," he tweeted with a smiley face.
