Spider dug tunnel through man's scar and entered his stomach
Dylan Thomas, 21, was holidaying in Bali last week when he woke up to find a strange red trail stretching up his stomach.
Thomas sought help after the trail started growing but doctors assumed it was just a spider bite and gave him an antihistamine as treatment.
"It was as if someone had scratched me with the tip of a knife," he said.
When the red trail instead of getting better became painfull and began blistering, Thomas sort the expertise of a dermatologist who discovered an unusual cause to his problem.
A tropical spider about the size of a match stick head had burrowed through a recent appendix removal scar and entered Thomas' stomach.
"It takes a lot to deter me, but I do feel violated. It was a very bizarre experience just to know something like that was in my body for a couple of days," said Thomas.
After doctors removed the spider it was sent for testing.
