Victoria Beckham lives up to the Posh Spice nickname she was given as a member of Spice Girls.

The former singer gained the moniker when she was a member of the all-girl pop group in the 90s, and admits it is still relevant.

Victoria - now a fashion designer living in Los Angeles - said: "I was called Posh because I liked nice restaurants and nice clothes, and that was my character.

"I didn't smile, even in those days. There was this very strong image.

"Sometimes I catch myself in the mirror and I'm like, 'Oh my God, I've turned into that person'."

Although she is famed for never smiling, 38-year-old Victoria - who was in Spice Girls with Scary Spice (Mel B), Sporty Spice (Mel C), Ginger Spice (Geri Halliwell and Baby Spice (Emma Bunton) - admits the group had a great time when they were together.

Speaking on new documentary 'The Spice Girls' Story: Viva Forever!', she added: "The things we used to get up to! We had a lot of fun. Even me."

Mel B, 37, also said she lived up to her nickname, and found it gave her an advantage when she met new people.

She said: "Every woman gets a little bit scary every now and again and whether they're peed off with their boyfriend or just having one of those bad hair days, we're all a bit scary.

"I like my name. It kind of put a barrier up because when somebody would first meet me they'd think that I were going to be horrible and actually I picked and chose whether I was going to be nice or not nice that day."

Geri walked out on Spice Girls in 1998, but the group continued as a four piece until 2000. They reunited in 2007 for a world tour of sell-out shows and again earlier this month to launch a musical based on their songs in London.
