Edmore has big plans at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs's Zimbabwean forward Edmore Chirambadare is dreaming big and would like to leave his mark, just like some of his countrymen who made a big impression at Amakhosi.

"To be at Chiefs is a good thing and I consider it a good achievement for me. To be around these players you can enjoy each and every moment. It is nice," said the 24-year-old.

Chirambadare is in his first few months at the club, but knows that enjoying "every moment" with his teammates is one thing and living up to the fans' expectations is another.

The Gweru-born winger is, however, convinced that he has settled in well in Naturena and is ready to deliver.

"I have adapted well and I can tell the supporters to look forward to many things.

"I'm looking forward to doing a lot for Chiefs," said Chirambadare, who ignited expectations after his thumping volley in Chiefs's 4-1 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in the Macufe Cup at the weekend.

Chirambadare may not be a talkative guy, but is not afraid to make big promises.

"The fans should expect more, because that's why I'm here. I have a target and as a wing player, if I score 10 goals and I assist at least 15 times it will be nice for me," he said.

The Amakhosi faithful will be hoping that the winger is not another Ovidy Karuru in the making.

Karuru, another Zimbabwean winger, joined Chiefs in 2014 from Belgium but failed to live up to expectations.

Karuru, 27, played just five Absa Premiership games during the two years he was with the club and was released at the end of last season.

He is currently club-less.

Chirambadare, though, has already started two official games for Amakhosi - against Cape Town City in the MTN8, which Chiefs lost 1-0, and in the 1-1 draw against Platinum Stars, where he was taken off at half time.

Can Chirambadare follow in the footsteps of the Zimbabwean players such as Tinashe Nengomasha, Knowledge Musona, Onismor Bhasera and Willard Katsande, who have made a big impact in Chiefs colours?

"Sometimes the supporters can boo you, but if you have the confidence you can continue to entertain them and have fun," Chirambadare added.
