Hunt unhappy despite cup rout of city

How do you think Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt feels today after his side thumped Cape Town City 3-0 in the first leg of their MTN8 semifinal clash on Saturday?

Well, you would expect him to be grinning from ear to ear, but he is not entirely happy. Hunt said he will take the result, but was not happy with the performance.

"It is disappointing. I thought you can't be happy with the performance, but you are happy with the result if you look at it like that," he mused after the Clever Boys put one leg in the final with a dominant first-half display that yielded the three goals.

Eleazar Rodgers, Elias Pelembe and Gabadinho Mhango scored for Wits.

"The result obviously is important, but the performance wasn't as good as it was in the previous two games [the 2-1 wins over Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates] and you know, we looked like we lost a little bit of rhythm," said the 52-year-old.

While Hunt felt his charges did not play to their full potential and expects more going forward, his counterpart Eric Tinkler admitted his side is a work in progress.

The former Bafana Bafana hard man was left disappointed by the lack of commitment from his team and felt they did not show any aggression.

"Yeah, [we lost] 3-0, you have have to remind us, hey," he said. "A few of the players were pulling out of challenges and that was extremely disappointing," Tinkler lamented.

Can Cape Town City overturn the deficit in their own back yard next weekend, or is it over?

"There are still another 90 minutes to play and playing at home we have to attack them," added Tinkler, who clearly hasn't thrown in the towel just yet.
