Itumeleng Khune is crying foul after recent incidents of opposition players blocking him from distributing the ball.

Against Platinum Stars at FNB Stadium on September 14, Khune wanted to quickly distribute the ball in an attempt to set up an attack and was impeded by Vuyo Mere.

The ball hit Mere's back and fell kindly in Ndumiso Mabena's path on the edge of the box, but his shot was cleared off the line.

On Wednesday, Khune was adjudged to have handled the ball outside the box in the sixth minute of stoppage time against Highlands Park. The home side was given a free kick by referee Lwandile Mfiki, but Khune made a great save to ensure Kaizer Chiefs won their first match of the season.

"Every time I want to release the ball to our players, I get blocked and it's been happening for years. I don't want to dwell too much on the referees' decisions, but it affects my game because the culture of Chiefs goalkeepers is to quickly release the ball. These teams, whenever they come to play against us, their plan is to block the goalkeeper from releasing the ball quickly," he said.

"We have to find a way to deal with the situation," added Khune, whose side plays Maritzburg United at FNB Stadium tomorrow (6pm)

Meanwhile, defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele explained why he is expecting a tough clash against the KwaZulu-Natal side.

"We don't have the advantage of saying we are playing a small team because every team that comes to us is hyped up," Mphahlele added.
