Muhsin's tough task

BIDVEST Wits can complete a double over the Soweto giants within the space of five days when they face Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 quarterfinals tomorrow (Bidvest Stadium, 8.15pm).

Wits showed intent on Tuesday when they made Kaizer Chiefs look ordinary in their opening league fixture and Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral, who was an interested spectator at the match, wouldn't want to see a repeat.

The former Chiefs coach is well aware that getting one over Gavin Hunt will be a big ask, but is nonetheless relishing the challenge.

"Gavin is a good friend of mine and I have great respect for him as a coach. We've come a long way as friends and it is never easy to play against him.

"Wits is a very organised team. I watched them against Chiefs and as much as we played exciting football (in the 3-1 win over Golden Arrows on Wednesday), we won't take anything for granted.

"I think it will be a very tough encounter for both sides," Ertugral noted.

Hunt, too, is equally wary of the danger posed by Pirates. The 52-year-old, who is into his fourth season with Wits and is still looking for his first trophy with the club, knows that progress to the semifinal is not guaranteed when facing a team of Pirates' calibre.

"We are looking forward to the game. We expect a very tough game. Saturday will be another test for us and it is totally different to the league," Hunt said.

Bucs will count on Tendai Ndoro to reproduce the exploits of midweek when he netted a hat-trick in their opening match against Arrows.
