First time lucky for Mohomi

It has taken Lucky Mohomi just over three months after joining Mamelodi Sundowns to win his first medal - and it's the biggest of them all, the CAF Champions League.

Mohomi, nicknamed "Fabregas" for his smooth passing game, has watched most of Sundowns' games from the bench, but he'll start seeing more game time now that the Champions League is over and coach Pitso Mosimane will probably rotate his squad to keep his players fresh.

After the success on the continent, Mohomi is itching to get his hands on more winners medals, starting with the Telkom Knockout. Sundowns begin the defence of their title with a last-16 clash against Polokwane City tonight [6pm].

"I have always been dreaming to be here and I never thought it [winning a trophy] would be soon. I have a medal that only few people have and I am happy. Now that it has happened, I am out of words," said Mohomi.

"Everybody wants to see what we have in store for them this season. We have to defend our [Telkom KO] trophy, so that's what is on our minds now. I think we will do well as a team and we will defend it."

Mohomi has made three appearances since joining from Free State Stars.

"Obviously with the squad we have, I have been happy to get the chances. The opportunity I get I will make use of it. I am happy with how I am progressing," he said. "...We will go all out for every trophy on offer."
