We are not good enough

That Orlando Pirates are "just not good enough" is the last thing their supporters would want to hear from Muhsin Ertugral.

The Buccaneers coach was, however, left with no option but to admit to their flaws after Tendai Ndoro rescued a point in stoppage time of their 1-1 draw against Polokwane City at the weekend.

Puleng Tlolane had put the home side 1-0 up with a superb strike early in the second half, which Ertugral felt was a "lucky" goal, even as his side survived a barrage from City and were actually fortunate to return with a point from Polokwane.

"They scored from a sucker punch, which you can say is a lucky, lucky shot. It is a wonderful goal and I won't take that away from him, but a 100 times [of] trying I don't think it can go in," said Ertugral.

Pirates couldn't create their own luck though as they huffed and puffed throughout the match. Ertugral admitted that they are poor in the opposition half. "In the end the last decision, the last third, that's where our problem is and we are working on our pattern on how to enter the last third," he said.

"We are not good enough. We are not creating enough chances," said the 57-year-old, whose side has scored seven goals in five league matches, with six netted by Ndoro. "I can't be happy. I mean, we started the season to win trophies and we must play the type of football that is expected from us. In my opinion, we don't play that attacking football that we want to play."

Pirates remain third in the Premiership table despite drawing three league matches in a row against Cape Town City, Platinum Stars and Polokwane City. Ertugral will be hoping that his charges will be firing from all cylinders when they meet Golden Arrows at Orlando Stadium on Sunday in their Telkom Knockout last 16 clash.

"Sure, we will do much better. We will be playing a team that also wants to play, which is always very positive to play against Golden Arrows. They are not second on the log by fluke," he added.

Ertugral said Edwin Gyimah's absence against Polokwane City was due to an injury he picked up while on duty with Ghana.
