Mulomowandau Mathoho's agent has cleared the confusion regarding the defender's contract with Kaizer Chiefs.

The contract was thought to be expiring at the end of this month, but the player's agent, Tim Sukazi, confirmed that Mathoho still has one more year with Amakhosi.

"His contract comes up on the 30th of June 2017, not now. There is nothing further to that at this moment and in any case, a contract of a player like that cannot expire easily," Sukazi clarified.

Sukazi, however, is still hopeful that "Tower" can secure a European move before the start of the new season.

He rubbished rumours that Mathoho could be heading to French side Monaco.

"We are trying hard to get him abroad, but my trip to Monaco had nothing to do with football. I had a meeting with the prince and princess [of Monaco] for a project that I'm working on in KZN [KwaZulu Natal]. Nothing to do with football," Sukazi said.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic centre-back was previously linked with three Belgian top-flight clubs - KV Oostende, Anderlecht and Standard Liege - but nothing has materialised.

Sukazi remains convinced that the 26-year-old is ready for the European stage.

"It is business as usual in terms of trying to get him abroad. We believe he is ready."
