SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter says he will not shy away from signing players from his previous employers Kaizer Chiefs.

The 62-year-old's recent appointment by Matsatsantsa has triggered speculation that he may target Amakhosi players who worked with him during his stint as Chiefs coach from 2012 to 2015.

Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane, whose contract expires at the end of June, is reportedly one of Baxter's targets.

Baxter said he has no enemies at Naturena and signing their players will serve to bolster his team, and should be viewed in that light as he left the club on good terms.

"I just felt there were differences of opinion [at Chiefs]. We didn't have major issues where we were arguing all the time, but the club wanted to go a different way," he said.

"The best thing was to part as friends. I didn't want it [differences of opinion] to go that far and me storming in to tell them to take their job and stick it up somewhere.

"We could handle the tensions at that level. Well, there are many players at Chiefs who, if we have a big chequebook, I would be interested in signing," he admitted.

"But I'm guessing that our chequebook is not gonna be as big as Bobby's," he said, referring to Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung.

"We will monitor Chiefs and other clubs. We will have to reinforce at the end of the season. If it is Chiefs, why not? It is not like me going through the back door."
