Polokwane City coach Luc Eyamel says bragging rights might be important in Sunday’s Premier League Limpopo derby but the points are worth much more as his side meet Baroka FC on Sunday for only the second time.

Last year Baroka‚ still then in the National First Division‚ upset City in the Nedbank Cup but that was before the Belgian took over as coach.

“Of course it is important to everyone in Polokwane who wins the game‚ but for me I’m only thinking mathematically. All the games have the same number of points and although Baroka is a derby game it has the same importance as all the other games‚” Eyamel said.

“What we want to achieve is to be consistent‚” he said after a run of five matches without defeat for City ended on Thursday night away at Mamelodi Sundowns in the first round of the Telkom Knockout. Polokwane City lost 2-0.

“We have to win but I hope that we play better than we did against Sundowns. I didn’t recognise my boys. We lost too many duels and to lose like we did was not good preparation for the derby.

“I went to watch Baroka when they beat Platinum Stars last weekend. Baroka were very clinical and they completely deserved their win. We will have to play a lot better.”

Polokwane City have nine points from their opening six games of the league season while Baroka have seven.
