A first One-Day International (ODI) at his homeground at Kingsmead could possibly be in sight for Proteas all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo.

After an above-average first two ODI's for the South African national team in Centurion and Johannesburg over the past week‚ the KwaZulu Natal-born Phehlukwayo could help the Proteas to a third‚ series clinching win against the Baggy Greens when the two sides meet in Durban on Wednesday.

Proteas all-rounder Wayne Parnell has had a first-hand view of Phehlukwayo's rapid development as an all-rounder‚ with the 21-year-old having a satisfactory start to his ODI career.

Parnell knows all about youngsters being impressionable‚ having being a fresh face in 2010 from the 2008 Under-19 Cricket World Cup where he made his mark alongside current Indian test captain Virat Kohli. Parnell likes what he sees in the Glenwood youngster‚ who is set for his first international home game.

"He's fitted in very nicely and I was with him when we travelled to Australia with the South Africa 'A' team. It was the first time I spent time with him and dealt with him‚" Parnell said.

"He's a really good talent and coming in against Australia is a nice challenge and he's got a good future ahead of him. He's very mature for a 21-year old and I expect big things from him."

Parnell said their two Highveld wins against Australia were expected of them but Steve Smith's side will be a different team on the coast.

South Africa and Australia meet in the third of five ODI's at Kingsmead on Wednesday in what is a must-win game for Aussies after two big losses at SuperSport Park and at the Wanderers. - TMG Sport
