The long-held argument that styles make fights will be tested at East London's Orient Theatre on Friday night when SA featherweight champion Mabhuti "Macman" Sinyabi defends against Azinga "Golden Boy" Fuzile.

This Xaba Boxing Promotions Events match-up will be an intriguing bout because of their contrasting styles.

Sinyabi, from Mdantsane, is a right-hander who masters the art of fighting from a distance.

His first punch forward is a left jab and he likes giving angles while connecting with his punches.

If need arises, Sinyabi stands and trades because he does carry damaging power which has left 20 of his 29 victims counting the stars. Sinyabi, 29, who is trained by Dowi Mzini, has been stopped three times in his four losses.

On the other hand, Fuzile is a left-hander. The 20-year-old boxer from Duncan Village is like a matador who moves from side to side and lures his opponents into a false sense of security with his lazy barbs, while painstakingly setting them up for destruction.

Fuzile has long arms which help him keep foes at bay when he wants to. His first punch forward is a right hand.

A former top amateur who understands the concept of fighting from a distance but he sometimes initiates the pace and is a smart finisher.

Fuzile is under the tutelage of trainer Mzamo "Chief" Njekanye.

lPatrick "The Destroyer" Malinga lived up to his moniker when he demolished Viwe Mdletyeni in three rounds to retain his WBA Pan African lightweight belt at OR Tambo Hall in Mthatha on Friday night. Malinga bettered his knockout ratio to 27 in 30 wins against 10 losses and three draws, while Mdletyeni from Mthatha suffered his third knockout loss in six defeats against 14 wins and a draw.

lLudumo "9mm" Lamati beat Lemohang Mapitsi in one round at the Orient Theatre on Saturday night.
