Caster Semenya not only produced her fourth-fastest time of her career at the weekend, but her victory at the IAAF World Challenge in Germany on Saturday added to the many accolades in her best year by far.

With her clinching the Diamond League series two days before the Berlin race that she won in 1min55.68sec on Saturday, Semenya is now one title away from joining a few track athletes around the world to have won every major medal on offer.

Semenya is now short of a Commonwealth Games gold gong to add to her collection of the Diamond League, Olympics, world, continental and national gold medals in the 800m.

Interestingly, the 25-year-old from Limpopo has never competed in the Commonwealth Games having missed out in the last editions - in India in 2010 and in Scotland in 2014 - due to injuries.

Semenya has enjoyed a flawless season where she went unbeaten over the 400m, 800m and 1500m distances. With her Diamond trophy, the Potchefstroom, NorthWest-based runner became just the second South African after Khotso Mokoena to capture the lucrative IAAF competition.

For her efforts in the season-long series, Semenya claimed the $40000 (R590000) overall purse in addition to the $50000 she raked up for winning five - $10000 at each meeting - in as many races during the Diamond race.

She has made about R1.3-million prize money from the competition. At Saturday's race in Berlin, she came 0.4 seconds off the personal best she set when winning gold at Rio a fortnight ago.

She once again defeated her Olympic runner-up Francine Niyonsaba of Burundi who finished second in 1:57.58. Kenya's Eunice Sum finished third in 1:57.95.
