Mark Mayambela's attitude towards the game has been questioned by SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter.

The midfielder is on the verge of leaving Matsatsantsa just four months into his three-and-a-half-year contract. Mayambela arrived at the club in January from Chippa United.

"Mark has been disciplined because we were not happy with his attitude towards his job both on and off the field," Baxter said.

The former Kaizer Chiefs coach refused to go into details regarding Mayambela's alleged transgressions, and while the player promised via SMS to return our calls, he didn't.

Baxter made it clear that he will not tolerate ill-discipline at the club and demands that players should set a good example.

"We want to set standards. I have spoken to Mark two or three times, that's the situation and the club stepped in over one incident that was a little bit way off the mark. You'd better talk to the club about that," he said, but the club's chief executive Stanley Matthews couldn't be reached.

As things stand, Mayambela, who has made three starts and one substitute appearance for the Tshwane side, appears to be on his way out. Baxter was non-committal, though, regarding Mayambela's future.

"Mark has a contract with us and I think we have obligations in that contract. He's been disciplined and whether he trains or not, that's up to the club and Mark to come to an agreement," he said.

Baxter added that the 28-year-old still has a lot to offer, but that all depended on his attitude towards the game.
